Faith in the Family
FriBU & Awana
Faith in the Family started out as an initiative launched by Frikirkens Barn og Unge (FriBU) and Awana Norway in the fall of 2023, exploring how we could better help parents live out their faith in and from the home.
Awana Norway has resources for families who want to live a life of faith in everyday life. We have also emphasized again and again the importance of the role of the parents in passing on faith to children. But now the time has come to move from information delivered from a stage to modeling honest lives that create a natural space for Jesus in everyday life.
FriBU, on their side, has also created valuable resources and learning networks on this topic in several congregations and has invested in family groups. Our shared experience is that many parents know they should do something and they often have the resources they need, but still struggle to put it into practice in the midst of a busy family life.
YWAM Focus on the Family
Several people in Awana and FriBU have been involved in Focus on the Family Camps for many years, and the experience has been that a family camp actually equips families with real help to move in the right direction. That’s why Family Focus was invited into this initiative.
We have asked ourselves: How could more families experience the impact from a Family Camp? Why is it that families who thrive during that one week often need help to live it out the other 51 weeks of the year?
A uniting vision
We want to see parents gaining courage to embrace their God-given role as spiritual leaders in the home. We believe a vital factor in this is connecting with other families who support, pray and inspire one another over a longer period. We believe when families join this network, the life of faith will be enriched and uplifted for both adults and children. We look forward to kicking off this first year of Faith in the Family this fall.
We are vulnerable when we walk alone, but together we are stronger! That’s why we also hope that different mission organizations and denominations will join and support this network. We long to see a movement of families in Norway who live with and for Jesus in everyday life—a vibrant faith that will be shared through generations.
